It’s the little things that pull it apart
His fair lady
And damn that it shouldn’t hurt
Curse foul heart and mind that continue this charade
While he languishes in splendor and the love that he’s found
I close the door firmly behind and stare into the empty space
Not me
Not you
Nor me
Nor you
And the mind and the heart do as they will without the thought of how they torture me
His fair lady
How fair she must be
Ever the one to watch and never the one to play
Playing the part in a strange game with no winners
Only the watcher
And how it hurts
His fair lady
That I couldn’t provide him with it myself
That he didn’t want me to
That he never sees the pain pouring out
His fair lady
May they seek ever after
While I rot in the dark
