The irony of “Lest we Forget” digs into my skin like the knife with poisonous stingers inflicting a sting that never escapes
And forget they did forget they did
Rows upon rows of hundreds of thousands of lives lost for no reason
No you see because when they got there they weren’t trying to save anyone
The war was fought for backroom politics as usual
Lest we Forget
But they didn’t know to begin with
Dying for oil
Dying for the West’s disease
Dying for killing someone who killed someone else
State sanctioned mass murder
State sanctioned mass suicide
You want to protect the world from terror?
What terror?
You want to protect the world from communism?
Are you certain a world power just didn’t see the end of its power and destroy anything it could?
Lest we Forget
The horrors of war
And romanticise it and glorify it and demand it
Oops
They did it again.
Rome?
Sparta?
Oh, sorry.
They’re dead.
Because they fought themselves to death
